OWC Tips & Deals 6/30/2006
Intro: Lets get the fireworks started! Greetings and salutations from all your friends at OWC! Since it is 4th of July weekend, trying to keep this one short and with points of interest. So.... New OWC Mercury On-The-Go 2.5" SATA HD Kit You got your MacBook or MacBook Pro... Upgraded to a 100GB or 120GB HD via OWC and saved a lot of money doing so + have the stock drive now too. Would rather be able to use it vs. take the trade-in rebate.... And now you can! Our new Oxford924 based OWC Mercury On-the-Go SATA HD Enclosure kit takes any 2.5" SATA Drive and lets you bus power it via USB2, FireWire 400, or FireWire 800. All the cables are included so you need only add that drive and you're good to go. Available right now for $89.99. New OWC Mercury Elite-AL Pro 'Quad' Interface solutions Taking interface flexibility to the next level is our new OWC Mercury Elite-AL Pro 'Quad Interface' line of solutions. Now available from $219.99 and in capacities of 250GB to 750GB, this latest edition to the Elite-AL line up use the latest SATA drives on the inside and on the outside offer eSATA, FireWire 800, FireWire 400, and USB2 connectivity. Whatever ports you've got on the Macs(or PCs) you make use of, you can connect this drive up to whichever best option is available. These solutions provide exception data transfer performance for A/V, Backup, Music, you name it + are fully bootable too. Check 'em out! Super 500GB Sizzling Savings Got music, videos, imovie projects, you name it and with that ever growing need for HD space to accommodate these things, it's a good thing the cost per Gig has continued to drop. Accelerating that process a bit, and thanks the partnership with our friends at Seagate, we are now able to offer you some fantastic 500GB deals the latest internal as well our external solutions equipped with the same. It's hard to go wrong with Seagate equipped OWC Elite/OWC Neptune/NewerTech miniStack 500GB Solutions from $265 and Seagate 500GB Internals from $225. Talking real high-capacity, high-performance storage for a very low price. Apple MacBooks & Jobs special events The new Apple MacBook models, which are the follow up to the iBook, continue to be about the hottest Apple computer shipping today. If you're considering one of these power packed portables, I hope our last newsletter helped with that consideration. Either way, my main surprise with the new MacBook intro was the lack of an Apple Special Event to unveil it. At the conclusion of Apple's last event on Feb 28th, Jobs did say effectively he'd be back doing another one soon. IMHO, compared to those prior, the Feb 28th event was a real let down. Don't want to over use a hype medium like that, although given the anticipation and reception of the MacBook, certainly think it would have rolled out well there. Looks like it will be WWDC when we hear next from Mr. Jobs. Already announced to be the first public showing of OS X 10.5 Leopard... and also the expected timing of the new Intel Tower systems release and who knows what else, darn expecting some serious excitement with Jobs front and center. Anyway..... For Fun What could be more fun than setting sail or paddle in a boat made from cardboard? With leadership from Phil, OWC's Warehouse Manager, we made our first entry into America's Cardboard Cup Regatta. Run annually every year in Crystal Lake, Illinois, this event draws competition from around the globe with the proceeds generated going to charitable causes. Although we this was our first year going, our team finished 2nd in their heat + 37th overall and most importantly had a good time doing so. Not bad for just getting our feet wet.... and just wait till next year. :) Intro Closing: Alright - had some OWC stuff this time around... should have a bit more of a mix come next edition. No matter what, all of here hope you have a great, safe 4th of July! Always the best and thank you for being a subscriber!
