FireWire 800 to 400 Adapters & Cables from $7.99:

Starting with the MacBook Pro 15" Unibody Models - Apple entirely did away with FireWire 400 ports leaving only FireWire 800 port(s) for your FireWire device connection. That was last October...All the new 2009 models from the MacBook Pro 17" Unibody to the new iMac and Mac Pros continued this change over. This change also hit the Mac mini 2009 model, which was an upgrade vs. prior Mac minis having only FireWire 400. Apple also brought FireWire 800 to the new MacBook Pro 13" Unibody model vs. the first MacBook 13" (non-Pro/2008) model having lost FireWre altogether vs. the MacBook 13" 'White' and 'Black' models which have/had Firewire 400 Standard.

The bottom line - if you have FireWire 400 devices and no FireWire 800 device with a FW400 port you can connect through, you'll need the right adapter or cables to do so.

#2 - Love Microsoft or 'Dislike' them, Office for Mac remains a one of the most popular and widely used applications the Mac has ever had. Office 2008 is a substantial update vs. the previous Office 2004 edition and the first to provide full Intel Native code base for better performance on Intel Macs while still fully supporting PPC G4 and G5. I personally use the Office suite and with the free updates released over the past year bugs have been squashed and performance has been improved substantially further. It's not likely we'll see a new Office Mac version for another 1-2 years, which is fine - cause the current one gets the job done and with 18 months of bug squashing and performance updates.... if it's not broke, don't fix it.
